Not bad - pretty much just a restaurant with a bar attached but they do some decent beer. Staff are very good. However, I know this is fox hunting territory but dogs in the bar? No need for that...

Damned fine pub.

As has been observed already, it was built in Gallifray and is, infact, a TARDIS. Looks benign and cottage-like from the outside, one goes in, hoping to squeeze onto a table, and its like striding into a Cathedral-masses of space, and yet, and yet-its not impersonal at all.

Food is excellent, menu range good, locals, well, they're well to do locals, so probably not native at all, but friendly enough.

Worth a try. Go on.

Called in for lunch this Sunday just gone. Doesn't look that big from outside but it goes on and on, and it was absolutely heaving with diners - there must have been over 200 people eating. The front part of the pub (the original bit, the rest are extensions) is the best area, with two log fires, an attractive wooden bar, and a nice cost table layout. We all opted for the Sunday carvery, and to my surprise it was really good. Carveries are normally bloody awful in my experience, but the quality here was surprising. Washed it down with a very nice pint of King & Barnes Sussex Bitter. Service was incredibly efficient, given the number of people in there. The whole place seemed like a very well oiled machine, and is an ideal pub for a Sunday meal.

Went there last Sunday; emphasis on food and staff seemed put out when we only wanted to order drinks. Comfortable bright interior, but lacking in atmosphere, get quite busy and service slows down as a result. Well kept beer from H&W, food did look good. Worth a detour if going from Chi to Midhurst but not really my style.

Great food in comfortable and welcoming surroundings. Good range of beers. The array of comfy sofas make this an ideal spot for chilling with a pint when the weather's bad!
