One of my favourite pubs. Went in on Friday afternoon. The Youngs was in good fettle and i ate with two friends. The food was excellent if a little on the pricey side. I will certainly return. willesden_seadog - 18 May 2009 12:20
It was a bit crammed in here during my visit and it took a while to be served, but the staff were polite enough when it was finally my turn. The pub looks big from the outside, but the actual bar area is quite thin. Maybe I missed another room behind the bar? A few of the locals were watching the football on a small plasma screen at one end of the pub and at the other end there is a raised area that seemed to be the prime location to sit. I had a very nice pint of Deuchars and Ordinary and Special were also available alongside a selection of standard and premium lagers. I thought it was OK in here, but I didn’t find it to be the best pub in the Primrose Hill area. Strongers - 16 Apr 2009 07:22
Such great potential , such a bad offer... but if only to be accused of listening in to other peoples conversations. A couple were in here on friday evening and he was sizing up everything, taking notes on things and his female partner said that she hopes he gets the pub , she really likes it. So maybe a new manager is on his / her way ? anyway , only had a quick pint then my dinner companions arrived and we left for elsewhere for dinner. Ive always liked here and do agree that its been a bit hit and miss. The_Pub_Inspector - 29 Nov 2008 20:05
Excellent pub. During the week it is a firm favourite with the natives. Weekends tend to get very busy with the influx of folk using the hill. This tends to push things to their limits owing to the limited space. Sadly the clientele at weekends tend to lean toward the more rowdy which can render the place a little too claustrophobic. The staff turnover seems to be rapid, often leading to tailbacks at the bar as new staff get up to speed. The management turnover is, if anything, more frequent than that of general bar staff. In four years I have witnessed six managers which can do nothing for maintaining continuity of standards. Geronimo need to sort the management issues in this establishment and install someone who can take the helm on a more long term basis rather than juggling personnel in an apparent ad-hoc fashion. I still maintain that this is an excellent pub, however this has relied upon a core group of general bar staff who are attentive and friendly. It is crucial that Geronimo keep a grip on The Queens because there is stiff local opposition and to lose custom because of imprudent management decisions would be sad as this pubs atmosphere relies heavily upon the local community (most certainly during the week). swansheath - 25 Oct 2008 13:41
The new female manager appears dissinterested in customer relations. This is a shame as the other bar staff are polite and helpfull. The toilets are in general dirty and not looked after, I would advise you to bring wet wipes to wash your hands if eating in this pub! londonjack - 22 Oct 2008 19:51
