Sorry to all those that have posted negative comments, this pub/Restaurant is a little gem with great food and fab staff. Yes it used to a Beefeater, well I would never have gone there when it was as we had so many bad experiences. The beer/cider is well kept and the food is to die for. We hated this place when it was a Beefeater so please try it out as an independent and see the change Buster211009 - 9 Feb 2010 19:08
Visited The Dukes Head Last week, used it once or twice when it was a Beefeater and back then it was... - well a Beefeater, they are what they are!! Now it is a private food pub serving what I thought was great pub food maybe even more like a restaurant now than a pub. Great service good food, I thought a good selection. Nice to have a menu without those bad photos of what your food wont look like!! Well explained enthusiastic staff, decent prices if the drinks are a little steep!! All in all a very good experience. goodfoodguro - 3 Jun 2009 16:13
Tried this recently refurbished place as a Mother's Day venue. Wish I hadn't. The service was appalingly slow and confused (even taking into account the busy day). After ordering and consuming two glasses of 'house' white wine was promptly told they do not do a 'house' white wine! It is a bit too pretentious really. The menu was was too limited in choice and it seemed that there was garlic everywhere. Overpriced for what you get. Yorkshire puddings were terrible. Will not be returning. eaglepub - 22 Mar 2009 19:29
Thank god its no longer a tierd boring Steak House!! Clean, fresh and above all inviting! The food is great, modern British food with a med twist. You can still get steak (If you want!) you can still take your kids (If they behave and dont run around like in most big steak house chains which make the whole experince awful) My kids loved that we could see the chefs cooking real food and putting it on our plates. Over all, well done to the team at The Dukes Head, a real pub with excellent beer & wine, excellent decor, excellent food and very attentive staff!! I have and will be back again & again & again. goodfoodguro - 16 Mar 2009 12:26
For what it is, a Beefeater restaurant it's excellent. The beer is good, the food is good and the service is also good. I eat her on a fairly regular basis and would recommend it to anyone. BrianBlessed - 21 Jan 2008 01:45
