great pub, just goes to show how a spoons pub could be run,the ones in the west country are allways far better, and this takes it a stage further, best in town vinnnie - 4 Feb 2008 12:58
Far and away the best hostelry in Paignton - which has sadly seen a steady decline in the quality of its pubs over the past 10 years. Yes, it's a Wetherspoon's and I know they attract a mediocre "press" in these reviews generally - but this is genuinely one of the best ones. Good atmosphere, attentive and welcoming staff and a superb range of beers which seem to be served in prime condition. The pub does excellent trade and leaves the others in the town centre for dead. Quite frankly, the others were "dead" by comparison - which is not surprising when you see what little they have to offer! coulsdoncrawler - 5 Nov 2007 23:35
Service & staff were excellent on the two occasions i have visited this summer.Decorwise there are some wonderful nostalgic photos of Paington, although the majority are upstairs (as you have to go to visit the loo). Food was typical wetherspoons, cheap & filled a hole, but unlike a lot of Wetherspoons pubs at least the meals here were consistantly hot when served. glenn468008 - 14 Sep 2007 17:31
In the town, well off the sea front. Seemed a nice, clean building. About six cask ales offered. The two I tried were nicely on form. Food looked ok. Standard wetherspoon menu. would go again. reynard - 23 Jul 2007 17:42
Always bursting at the seams. Food and booze very good value. Not bad atmosphere in there either. A good pub. anonymous - 11 Jun 2007 21:49
