Yes, nice old village pub, with some nice beers. But we took a birthday party of 12 for Sunday lunch and the food was barely average, but expensive. Coupled to that, when issues were raised, they did nothing to deal or apologise. Shall not be returning in a hurry.

Lovely old pub but it had been painted a horible grey colour everywhere don't know why?
Very good selection of beer and the staff and locals are very friendly.
Food very expensive and it appears they are trying to turn this into a gastro pub.
All in all not a bad experience but not top of our list

This is a real pub. Amazing.

The Harveys and the Dark Star were well kept, the food was good and the service friendly.

Part of it is given over to dining but you can also dine in the bar where there are real people who just come in for a drink and a chat, just like pubs should be.

How refreshing to be among people chatting about football (a subject I have no interest in) rather than children running around and being a nuisance.

They do let children and dogs in and it can get quite busy.

After taking a rest over Christmas and the New Year, the weekly quiz is moving to Wednesday. The first quiz of 2012 will be on Wednesday 18 January.

Thursday night is quiz night! 2 per person, with 50% going to St Catherine's Hospice. First prize is a gallon of beer (donated by the pub), second prize is 10, and there is a Rollover Jackpot awarded every four weeks to the team that accumulates most points in that period.

If you think you know what connects Edinburgh, Dover and Edinburgh, if you can remember which team was undefeated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, if you know when you're in the Rhubarb Triangle, then you should join us on Thursday! And if you visit the quiz as a result of reading this, let me know (I'm the quizmaster) and I'll buy you a pint!
