I have not visited this lovely old pub for a long time and discovered that it had been taken over by new management since October 2013. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The beers including two guest ales, I especially enjoyed!! I ate in the restaurant and portions are still very generous and value for money with a good comprehensive menu too. Although I did not stay for the evening, they apparently had a live band playing and when enquired I was shown a board iftn the bar listing many evenings of live music to come. I recommend a visits to The Good Intent pub!

Gosh, that submission by alezilla is worrying. We were there for the 3 hours that they are open on the same Saturday lunchtime. We ate and the food was superb and the portions generous and served in the beamed dining area. The bar area is equally enchanting. The thing that let it down for me was the choice of beers. I had the Butcombe guest which was ok and then looked to have ESB (it's a Fullers tied house) but the lady serving us had never heard of it and said I must mean HSB. I declined as sadly I never really liked that particular product of Horndean (RIP). I had the London Pride instead but there lies my disappoint in that it was so close in style to the Butcombe I could barely taste the diffference. Last year I congratulated Fullers by letter on a pub they have in Brighton that served a fantastic range of ales, all theirs, and included a real stout. With the superb food that was being offered thie pub should have been much busier with diners and I wonder if the reopened Drum in the town which is apparantly offering a good range of micros with differing styles is extracting custom for that reason and offering good food at the same time. Dangerous times for the Good Intent and given alezilla's comment very worrying for the future.

Closed on a saturday- we were asked through a window by a member of staff 'what did we want', well, I would have thought that was rather obvious...'there are 50 million pubs in petersfield' she shrieked with no hint of an apology. Hmmm...by my reckoning, that leaves petersfield with 49,999,996 pubs which are very good at concealing themselves. A Fullers vehicle requiring some urgent staff training methinks.

Visited recently, for the first time under the current ownership.
Service was excellent, and the food portions were large. I had a small portion of chowder and sausages and mash with a pint of Butcombe Bitter.
A good meal. Unfortunately my first choice of main course was 'off', which spoilt an otherwise pleasant experience.
