| Went there for a meal the other night, for the first time in two years. The food was well prepared and service efficient and friendly. As I was driving, I can not comment on the beer, but a glass of wine with my meal was of average 'pub wine' quality but not overpriced for the area. anonymous - 9 May 2007 10:19 |
| Went in for lunch yesterday. Selected this pub from a guide. Good choice. As noted before, it's an 'old-fashioned boozer', with all sorts of patrons The beer [Fuller's London Pride] and cider [Strongbow] were very good. They still do Gales. The meal was excellent. It's almost a pub with a restaurant tucked on, and it looks as if people locally know it's good. You have to book for a later table [after about 1 pm] it appears. | Really very decent old school boozer. Gales beers, old-style but good-looking pub grub (O'Hagan's excellent sausages feature strongly). Old-fashioned atmosphere (in a good way), no smoking restaurant area. Provides a platform every Sunday night for most of the local bands, jazz on Thursdays.
