Had a great tasting pint of Badger here on drive down to a concert at bournemouth, very nice place, 8/10 fat_beer_badger - 5 Jun 2008 12:15
Now this is my kind of pub. It's a bit worn around the edges (that's a good thing, in my view). But I don't mean it's dirty, it's just a proper pub. The beer is nicely kept. Hall & Woodhouse, which I like. But the thing here is the food. Wow! Why it's not listed as a gastro pub I have no idea. They do light snacks and things (I've had an omelette here which was very nice) but do yourself a favour, have a proper meal. I go in there often now. Ben, the chef has a wonderful pork dish he calls his signature dish and it's gorgeous. But I haven't had anything in here yet that hasn't been fantastic. he does a steak pudding you could just die for. I'm normally a lunch eater and haven't been there in the evening, but I've not had to book. This place is a real hidden treasure. And it's reasonably priced. I've had horrible plastic portion-controlled food that cost more than this Emma, who's the landlady, I think is really lovely too. Wonderful cheery smile. scorpiodog - 19 Mar 2007 12:39
under new management. We were made very welcome, and had a very nice lunch. The starters were substantial, delicious and beautifully presented. Steaks were above average and good value for money, and once again well presented. No room for a pudding alas! We will definately go again. labcoat - 18 May 2006 18:30
Great pub quiz on a Sunday night, if you don't mind the Landlord taking the p*** if your general knowledge is a bit wayward. BTW: To help your chances, cheer at any Chelsea references, and don't mention the French! Good for Hall & Woodhouse beer and it's quisine. JJG - 26 Feb 2006 18:45
