Not normally my type of place, but whilst visiting during a heatwave it almost felt like we were abroad as the place has a continental feel as a trendy wine bar.
I did quite like it and we sat in the garden which was a little shabby but still ok.
Didn't eat here but the food looked ok and there was a good selection of drinks too.
Axmouth has two great if not modern pubs and the area is just fantastic too.

I visited recently for the first time and it seemed a little overdone in the refurbishment. I don't know what it was like before, but it was certainly not a cosy country style pub, but more like a smart continental style bar/restaurant.

Having said that, we were welcomed into the bar area with two soggy dogs, so the country principals are still evident. The beer was good and the staff were pleasant.

Agree with the last reviewer definitely not the old traditional pub it was years ago. Looks like a smart restaurant with smart restaurant prices but unfortunately the food was only average . Will not eat here again. Pity as the surroundings are beautiful.

Now under new ownership and after a complete refit is clean and smart, but hardly a traditional pub anymore. We sometimes pop in for the odd pint, but are often made to feel that diners take priority (I have known drinkers to be asked by staff to give up their table for diners). That said, we have tried the food on occasion and have been impressed.
Beers include Otter Bitter and Ale, both well served by attentive, polite staff.
Maybe best left until the warmer months when you can sit outside in the very pleasant garden and quaff your pint without fear of eviction !

Good luck to the new owners, at least the village will have one pub with atmosphere, good wholesome food and a choice of beers.
