Dropped in for lunch after researching for a pub the A272 route in the CAMRA good beer guide. All the Harveys' beers were on and we had a good meal at the height of the lunch period. Lovely pub with good staff who know what they're doing. If I'm down that way again this is the watering hole for me.

Dropped in on a Saturday afternoon for a friends birthday drink. Really friendly (I was impressed how the barmaid offered to help with making up a bottle for my young daughter) and the Harvey's was well kept. I tried Best, Armada, and Hadlow and they were all superb. The food looked good, but didn't try any.

This is a great pub - although its easy to miss the carpark around the back.

Solid village pub, decent, often imaginative food, great Harveys beers. Used to be a good bet for a quiet pint and a seat but was chocka the last time myPetersfield dropped by. Easy for the unwary to shoot past and then find nowhere to tie up, but actually there's a good sized car park right behind the pub. Deservedly popular.

Enjoyed some very good beer and food there yesterday with in-laws on the way to Chichester. Family run pub. Landlord offered my Yorkshire father-in-law tasters of all the bitters on offer. Thoroughly recommended. Red wine list a little short, but the good beer makes up for that. All the Harveys (new to me) tasted well kept. The beef casserole with dumplings was fantastic. Well worth a visit.

I must say I was disappointed to hear that this had been taken over by Harvey's a couple of years back, as it was reputed to be an excellent freehouse. Being an ale devotee it is always welcome to find variety as well as quality on the pumps.
That said, it would be churlish and perverse to moan about a pub falling under the auspices of Harvey's, who brew superb ales, and whose licensees tend to keep a good pint. The White Horse is no exception. All beer on my last visit was in great form, especially the Olympia, so well done to the cellarman (or woman).
It is a spacious pub that clearly welcomes both locals and passing trade, drinkers and eaters. Both staff and punters, whilst both were young (one doesn't expect much of youth in the friendliness stakes these days), were very outgoing and welcoming towards us. One young chap even decided to score for us whilst we played a darts extremely badly! Can't fault that sort of effort even though he had the appearance of a chav and was quaffing the fizz!! This at least shows it's not all about older CamRA members with beards!
I suspect this has the capacity for broad appeal and so if you're passing through on the A272, give it a go.
