| Although the rest of this hotel has apparently been refurbished, the bar seems to have remained unaltered in a traditional hotel bar style with dark wood chairs and tables. When we visited on a Saturday afternoon most of the tables were occupied by retirees enjoying the food and drink served - our goulash soup was excellent value at £3.99 and other meal deals were available. Three ales on the handles including Abbot and an ale dedicated to the hotel, the atmosphere was most convivial, the only drawback was the barman was often out the back somewhere attending to other duties, nevertheless he was a most friendly mine host Feed - 16 Nov 2014 11:44 |

| A great old building in desperate need of investment. Currently operated (but not owned) by Greene King. I remember this place when it was a Whitbread Lansbury Hotel.......unfortunately times have changed. The beer is good and the food appears to be acceptable, but it is crying out for someone to 'love it'. I'm affraid Greene King aren't those sort of people.
