Can't understand all this stuff about rude staff. Maybe it was a bad day! Friendly pub, proper fire, sports on TV but you can sit out of range (just). Excellently kept (Youngs) beer. Simon's a laugh. RoyTheBike RoyTheBike - 25 Feb 2007 09:43
i have never been to a pub like this one before. i found the landlord to be very rude to his staff and customers and drunk and the same goes for the landlady. i found the atmosphere very clicky and the customers very gossipy about people wich i found very rude. this is a pub i would not recomend and i would give it a wide berth. ive seen some good comments about this pub but i found it hard to believe on my last vsit. i have had a drink in here before but this time it will be my last. i found the landlord not very welcoming. this is one customer he has lost. anonymous - 20 Feb 2007 13:55
Éxcellent, a genuine pub (Young's) on the outer edges of Surrey / London. Three bars including the small one in the middle which may once have been an 'off sales' counter. beeronaut - 16 Jun 2006 00:01
The more I go to the George, the more I appreciate it. Excellent Thai food, well-kept Youngs beer. Dog-friendly, pleasant staff. Not too quiet, not too busy. A great local. AuldSot - 6 Apr 2006 11:05
Depends what your looking for mate. It's one of the last genuine pubs around that's not full of fake plants, mirrors and teenagers!!!. The extraction qualites of the chimney does leave something to be desired but we can cope and generally ask the very nice bar staff to turn the heating up and turn the fire down!!. If you mean there are too many smokers, please move on and drink somewhere else. Nice beer, nice staff and friendly punters. Not many places like that around here. Plus there's the easy pickings of taking the p*ss out of Simon, the last remaining Portsmouth fan who actually believes there gonna stay up (looks like shrek if your in doubt) COYS Mr_Magoo - 23 Jan 2006 21:53
