Very impressed by this pub. The best of 20 we visited this weekend in Glamorgan & Gwent. A huge drinking area with a central bar. One side of the building overlooks the valley. There were 5 real ales on tap - Brains SA, John Smith's Cask, Wye Valley Brew 69, Felinfoel Rudolph Revenge & Brains Iechyd Da! To keep me happy, they also had a real perry in one of the fridges - Fiery Fox (Gwynt y Ddraig). Friendly staff and customers. Recommended.

Excellent pub deserving of more clientel. Visited one afternoon and was very impressed with the Pint of Slaters i had. Being a big fan of cask ales i spoke to the very knowledgable owner who regularly has various rotating ales on including the excellent Sharps Doombar and local breweries like Rhymney,VOG and Bullmastiff. Ambience of the pub is good aswell which makes a change from the sterile atmosphere of Jds. The pub reminds me of when i used to go for a pint 20 years ago when pubs were unpretencious and Beer wasnt the mass produced carbonated stuff so often produced today!! If your after an excellent pint in congenial surroundings get yourself round to the Capel asap. You wont be sorry.

Great old fashioned pup with a nice selection of real ales Brains SA my favourite. Decent pool table, several rooms including a no smoking snug. Big screen which they will always switch on for you even if no one else is interested. For the curious theres an ancient weighing scales that takes old pennies in the hallway outside the gents! Nice characters on both sides of the bar.
