Traditional-style pub in the leafy village of Tylers Green a few miles out from the sprawl of High Wycombe. Offered six ales on hand pump on our sojourn – the Wooden Head Cornish Mutiny in particular fine fettle – amid cosy surroundings and the odd smattering of breweriana. Although we didn’t partake on the food front, the menu veered on the side of pub grub and the portions of the food we did see brought out to diners looked generous.

Lovely traditional pub, great for a few quiet pints on a Saturday afternoon

I've been a local here for many a long year and the first thing I'd say is that 'cynicalbastard' can now relax 'cos the 'estate agent types' have now moved on to the recently re-furbed chi-chi 'Old Queens Head' up the street.! Well-kept beer (Cask Marqued), friendly atmosphere, winter fire and old-style interior are the positives here. Poor internal lay-out though translates into 'uncomfortable', once the place gets a bit busier, so a few inside restructurings would make a big difference . The landlord is not the adventurous sort though, so nothing will change. Menu is rarely changed nowadays so eaters have declined from it's previous peak, when it's 'home-cooked' grub was legend. Good steaks though. So, if you like steaks, banter and good beer or are a one-off eater, then give it a bash.!

The only proper village pub in Tylers Green, at least 4 different ales on (Abbots, Pride, Adnams). Good food. Small garden. Well behaved dog friendly.

A small country pub, very popular with the dreaded estate agent types in the early evening, but settling down nicely as the evening wears on.

Excellently kept drop of ale - Abbotts - down to earth menu. This means reasonable choice, unpretentious and good pricing.
