Strangely empty on Saturday night.
Anway all beers good, Oakham and Newby Wyke as guests so worth another look.

Since reopening has attracted some new customers so pub now much fuller on weekends and some week nights (how pubs should be....!). One pool table has been taken out so extra seating available. Good range of real ales though usually nothing stronger than 4.5%, - Black Sheep seems to go down well with many regulars so not sure about previous review. A revamped (small) wine selection seems popular. Great Views in outside seating areas (albeit no separate areas for smokers). Folk night (open mike) first sunday of the month. No TV currently though will be for summer. And no juke box so you can hear yourself and your friends... Parking is not easy - get a taxi or take the bus.... well worth a visit or two...

Done out and reopened March 2014. OK but lost a little of its character, but as good as you can hope given the part-ownership by Punch Taverns. Bar staff may be a bit in-your-face but that's a matter of taste and individuals.
I confess to not particularly liking Milltown beers (half-owners of pub) but quality-wise what they had was fine. Usual rubbish of Black Sheep and Landlord - how can Taylor's brew such a tastless beer? Plus Milltown and 1 or 2 guests.
Parking getting out of hand, and it'll get worse as Kirklees Council intend further restrictions. Bus stop across road.

Worth seeking out, good selection of real ales, if a little on the expenses side. No food.

Country style local pub with a great view out the front. 7 real ales (Black Sheep, Landlord, Tetley Bitter & Mild, Deuchars IPA plus guests), Sky sports and pool tables
