Abysmal service, rude manageress.

We waited patiently for over an hour for our meal to arrive. When we inquired we were told that our ticket had been lost by the kitchen staff. Our three children were very hungry and crying by this point and although the manageress offered to bring the children's meals first, she didn't offer us any free drinks for our inconvenience, so we decided to cut our loses and leave. At this point the manageress was very rude and accused my husband of stealing because we didn't want to pay. She was unapologetic simply blaming the kitchen staff and we were left with a bill of over £9 for drinks and three very hungry children. I would never go again and advice anyone thinking of going NOT TO!
The expensive food LOOKED good but having not actually received any, I can't comment on how it tasted!

Good food, though a tad pricey. Great welcome - natives were very friendly. Lovely to sit by a log fire on a winter's evening and drink some well-kept Speckled Hen and Abbott.

I too am surprised by the negative comments. My family visit this pub regularly and we've never had any complaints - the food is good and in summer the garden is perfectly positioned to watch cricket on the adjacent green, and its snug in the winter inside. In comparison to the pubs in North Baddesley this is an absolute palace.

I am both surprised and concerned about the comments listed by the above members. The pub in question is my local and I can assure other users that these comments are wildly inaccurate.
Firstly the couple who run the pub are not managers they own the business. Secondly their manner, their staff and their food is excellent. I have taken my wife and family many times on both busy and quiet times ( and there are not many quiet days) for a meal and have found the pub to be warm, the ambiance to be superb, the food to be exemplary and the service to be excellent.

I decided to go for Sunday lunch with friends for a relaxing Sunday. However the service was so poor it turned out to be more stressful than staying in and cooking myself. It appears that the attitude of the owner is that if they are busy any form of service is better than none. However I disagree. If I go out for lunch I expect my starter to arrive in one piece rather than two so that the rest of the dish is cold by the time it arrives. I also expect to receive all of the main courses that I ordered rather than being told to make do with what I have. And to top all this I do not appreciate being told that it is rude to complain. I expect the service to match the price I pay. If you are too busy to cope get more staff or less tables!!!!!
