this is clearlythe best pub in the village ! beer is always exellent and a good selection of proper beers, also good set of lagers, wines and spirits some say the food is a bit steep (tight gits) owners and staff are on there toes at all times and very friendly if your going walking have your meal on the way back otherwise you,ll end up rolling back to the car park also good accomadation if you can get in bring your guitar sit in a corner and sing all night

Fantastic food and beer. Great staff, dog friendly - even came over with a dog chew for my dog. Been many times over the last few years and will continue to do so.

I visited this pub over the Easter 2010 holiday and was quite impressed overall. The real fire in the evening was lovely, it was dog friendly which was a plus for me and Mr Mole. The beer was well kept with the Black Sheep and Timothy Taylor being spot on for a good evening session.

I had the most amazing fillet steak in here on the Friday night to.... I took a look at the food going out and it all appeared to be fine and smelt lovely. There is a pub table which can be a pain in the arse when people are eating or watching the TV for the sky sports... overall I would say this is a cracking pub.... especially on a nice day when you can sit outside... I would recommend it without a doubt...

Nice selection of beers and a nice pub to share a few drinks with friends, The service was pleasant and a mixture of locals and tourists made it a good atmosphere. I would say it is the best pub in the village for drinking. Was not impressed with the food so i went next door to a great place called "The Retreat cafe". Fantastic service and fabulous food and a great price. I even got a couple of Sam Smith's beers in there to eat with my food. Sam Smith's is a fantastic local independant brewery in Tadcaster, York. After this went back to the pub for a couple more beers. between the pub and the cafe i had a great few days there and will be going back as soon as i can. A must for anyone in the area.
