On a recent visit, I had a pint of Elgoods "Black Dog", which was sold to me as a dark mild, but was nicely bitter. When this 'ran out' I switched to the Square Brewery bitter.
I also had Sunday lunch on this visit, and was served a very good stilton and mushroom starter, followed by a well cooked piece of baked cod.

Decent beer and good jazz on a Sunday lunchtime, worth another visit when I'm in the area.

Good friendly pub in the centre of town.
They have jazz on Sunday afternoon/early evening.
Fullers pub with standard range plus a "Square Brewery" bitter, also from Fullers.

The only pub in the centre of town - looks like a Fuller's house, relatively recently refurbed. A reasonable enough place that has regular music and some non regular gues ales (for Fullers that is). The Bowman's Swift One went down well enough on this visit.

only issue is the fullers prices? concidering they brew the beer, how come the wetherspoon in town sell london pride & for a good £1 a pint less?
