I drink in this pub most weeks and have to report that the average beer/lager is on the expensive side at approx £2.50 a pint. the customers in the front bar do often get rowdy and loud but are harmless enough. The back food bar is pleasant and warm and quite comfortable for a cheap meal it is also a no smoking bar so I am looking forward to July 1st when the management start to eject the smokers from the front bar (this promises to be entertaining) there will be no need for disco's and kareoke when we get to chucking the smokers out.
On average this pub is one of the better ones in the area it just needs stronger management to control the yob element. I shall cary on drinking there.

A local bar for local people. Relatively cheap. Friendly? Not exactly. Unfriendly? No, not that either. Best to take some friends if you want conversation.

Beer is the usual chemical crud although cheap for the area. Food is cheap and tastes it. Pool is cheap too, so that's a bonus, I suppose.

Main entertainment when I was there was watching a squirrel on the back windowsill. Other than that, I wouldn't bother.

Oh my god what can i say i drink in that pub with my husband and my friends all the time and we are certainly not pikies or dossers spending our giros. We are hard working people who earn our money honestly we do not drive novas and we havent got 12 year old girlfriends. If you come into the pub we do not stare at you or judge you in any way. Obviously you are not used to entering a pub with a friendly atmosphere. The pub is full of local people who know each other well and if you have had a unfriendly reaction it is because you are unfriendly yourself. We do not compare tattoos and we do not circle people like sharks.

Agree with strawbitz... I live near this pub but there is just no way I would call it my local. The most I frequented it was when my kitchen was being refurbished so going here was cheap and cheerful for food! The bar area is full of rough looking types (of both sexes) who stare at you like you're on their 'turf' if you walk in. On my very first visit I made the fatal mistake of trying to have a game of pool with my 2 mates, at which the 'locals' started circling like sharks announcing "its winner stays on", even though until we started playing they were staring at the big screen football game and comparing tattoos! The food area isn't bad if you have a spare tenner as you can get a steak and chips for about £7. Handy if you just want a cheap meal and are heading elsewhere afterwards. Warning though - go hungry as the plates and portions are huge. Not good if you are trying to keep your cholestrol levels down!

Steer clear of the bar area and leave it to the Quarrendon lot and if you do fancy a pint, stay in the restaurant area... it feels a bit safer and you'll feel less threatened!
