user reviews of Victory, Saffron Walden

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Chealsea supporting Landlord of The Victory was not a racist, I am of mixed race and have frequented this pub on quite a few occasions and have felt nothing but welcomed.

The old landlord that has been talked about is no longer at the pub, it changed hands on the 21/9/05.
It is now a west ham pub,and from tuesday to friday 12-3pm they offer a small lunch time menu.
It has a friendly atmosphere, with live music once a month.

The Chelsea FC supporting landlord, as mentioned below, is a racist. I personally witnessed him being fowl-mouthed and nasty to the only black punter and have not been in there since.

The Victory used to be THE pub to drink in in Saffron Walden but once the current landlord took over he knocked down walls, 'modernised' the old feel of the place and invited all his football chums to dominate the pub and generally act like a bunch of football hooligans that is expected of a small Essex town.

Avoid at all costs.

Smallish Greene King establishment. Sky TV for sports, has a lot of TV's rather than one big screen due to layout, but this works OK. Usual Greene King beer selection. Very pleasant garden for summer evenings. Chelsea FC supporting landlord likes to mix with his regulars.
