user reviews of the White Lion, Hyde

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

As previous posters have said full of o.a.p.s who must have some money to spend, Robinson beer isn't the cheapest. On my visit one real ale on. As you walk in you see a fantastic old long bar then you look to the right it looks like a posh transport cafe.

The White Lion is a good Robinsons pub that is situated facing Hydes market place and is often busy during the day and evenings. The interior of the pub can be classed as traditional, with a main room and sung that is separated by a long bar. The clientele is generally on the ageing teenager side, but does attract younger types as well. Robbies Unicorn and Mild are now served on handpump and are both great. Usually serves the warming Old Tom during the winter months too. Go on give it a try!

Used to be a classic pub, bustling with locals - all pretty much on the OAP side but that was a great part of its charm - at lunchtime and evening. Last time I was in there recently was a Friday night and there was hardly a soul in the place. Beer was in good fettle, Robbies, I hope it can make a come back.

What is this place? Is it a cafe? A pub? A bus station? Weird. And he's not kidding about those pensioners either.

Busy traditional locals pub. Very popular with shoppers at lunchtime for the excellent bar food. Robinsons bitter and mild on electric pump. This is a great pub - but beware of rowdy pensioners when there is a singalong at the organ !
