Live jazz on sundays (which is great if you're a jazz fan - I'm not. Nice pub though but the service can be very slow. Dan137 - 19 Apr 2008 09:48
Ate here today. disgusting, greasy and cold. Asked to speak to chef spoke to some dirty lump with attitude. Beer was rubbish too lizzie2751 - 31 Mar 2008 14:09
I was in Newbury for work and I came across this pub by chance. Seemingly recently-decorated, the pub was relatively busy for mid-afternoon and the unseasonably warm and sunny weather meant that I was able to sit out by the river enjoying a well-kept pint of “Gales” i.e. Fuller’s Swing Low. But £4.05 for a session-strength ale and a packet of crisps - is this the dearest pub in Newbury? I blanched at the cost which rather took the edge off my visit. In mitigation, the pub had no piped music when I was there, always a good thing in my opinion. Ordinary - 27 Feb 2008 21:50
Great music and entertainment from the Bullfrog band. Hope to see them again at a later date at this venue. What a great evening. Excellent beer too. skylab - 12 Jan 2008 00:19
what's the crack with removing the negative comments??? This pub was utter shite when I visited last summer and the review I left was 100% truthful-plates and glasses were absolutely everywhere. As i posted in December, it has improved massively (probably due to change of landlord) and service and food are now pretty good. Still expensive though, but I suppose you can't have everything! anonymous - 3 Apr 2007 19:52
