I am just amazed at the rating of this pub. Perhaps the staff do the reviews? It serves Hall & Woodhouse beers. The food that we had was terrible value. It was of the Brake Brothers Microwave bag sort. I could buy the same in Iceland for £1. A hotel of this size might be thought to merit a chef. On the good side, the manageress was cheerful and welcoming. But, this is the sort of chain pub that should probably close. BeerEnthusiast - 16 Jan 2010 19:42
Good food at reasonable prices, Usual boring Hall & Woodhouse beers. joesher - 21 Jul 2009 13:18
Have stayed at this pub and although I thought it was expensive for a weekend night the breakfast was top class. Have eaten in the evening on a couple of occasions and again the food and service was fantastic. Beer was spot on and the staff and owners are freindly. Have live music and we did a quiz one night (badly!) All in all it is top of our list when we go down to see our freinds. 10 out of 10.. Man_on_ground - 16 Jun 2009 18:36

This place is fantastic. Great food, friendly atmosphere and most importantly.... well-kept ales!! Has had the same tennants for almost 10 years now (definitely a mark of a good pub). Keep up the good work! under_the_table - 8 Jun 2007 17:15
