| My wife and I tried this pub while visiting Arundel. There was a service on at the cathedral so we thought we would pop in for a pint and a meal before visiting it. We both had a very acceptable lunch and the beer was excellent. What we liked most was that it was a good lunchtime mix of locals and visitors. The staff were friendly and helpful. | Went to the St Mary's Gate for a meal a week or two ago. The last time I went to The Gate was over a year ago. What a change. Very average but overpriced food. Strikes me that whoever buys the food goes for sub-standard quality. i.e cheap and nasty. Beer was great, Staff excellent, Landlady very very nice and chatty. | I would like to inform the person who posted the last review that this review is simply not true and probably posted by a local competitor!!
