Thsi pub is going from strength to strength. There are a few changes to the original details of a few years ago. There is bar billiards table rather than a poole table and there is no disabled toilet. Being a Free House, there is a constantly changing range of quality real ales and ciders with a local theme. The decor is fresh and clean having been refubished by the new owners in Feb. 2011. We have eaten there several times and recommended friends who have all said how good the food is. The menu is wide ranging and has some unusual items which are individual to the Establishment. Live entertainment is now starting to be introduced with Open Mike nights. We now travel 5 miles at weekends to go there we are so impressed with the beer and food. Fisheagle - 29 May 2011 13:15

After yet another extended closure the pub has again reopened, this time as a free house ( I hear thunderous applause!!!!!!! ) Tribute, Crop Circle and Doombar on at the moment. Early days but looking good! steamraiser2 - 13 Feb 2011 12:46
Opened again earlier in the year, but with no great fanfare - in fact I went several months without realising they were trading again. It's a bit unclear what's going on, but it seems that the locals have taken over the running of the place. Pubsignman - 18 Dec 2009 11:41
Can confirm that it has closed down for good thus continuing Hall & Woodhouses' unhappy record of closing down pubs when receiving a suitable offer from developers. The Rose & Crown now joins a list of H&W pubs closed down in recent years that includes The Greenridge, The Struans, The Fryers Arms, The Kings Arms, The Albion and going back a bit further, The Whincroft. johnkn7 - 23 Nov 2008 13:37
