when this pub first opened, it was excellent, good management, freindly staff who always had a smile on their face, a good selection of drinks and a fantastic food menu, serving traditional Homemade food. unfortunately today is a very different story. the staff are unfreindly, and serrvice is slow, and the management seem uninterested in the business.

the managers seem to always be shouting at staff
and the staff look as if they are always unhappy or upset maybe both but i really think management need to think about how they treat there staff and how OLD there staff are ???
Does Anybody Agree?

My overall impression of this place is 'rough'! The first time I went there, there was a stag night in progress with a slag stripper entertaining a bunch of boozy lads. I feel sorry for the bride!

A pleasant tradtional pub with just the right amount of Irish charm to please both English and Irish alike. A quiet, clean, uncrowded and relaxed atmosphere where you can drink and feel safe whilst listening to good music. That's how I would describe this pub if we lived in a world where everything is in reverse.
If you want to hear the old Pogues classic and Christmas favourite 'Fairy tale of New York' every week whilst you drink, go here. If you want to use toilets constantly blocked up with urine whilst 45 year old drunks shout at you go here- it must be noted this does have a certain amount of comedy value.
This is not the only entertainment provided here, enjoy a Guiness in the company of Ireland's answer to top notch hip-hop... Duff Paddy. Or dance in the company of over enthusiastic geriatricts who are happily willing to fork out £3.90 of their pension for another vodka and Coke.
At £2.80 a pint the Guiness provides some value for money, although it will look like it has been pulled by Mohamed Ali. I reccomend ordering a pint of Tiger instead, the fact that this is one of two handpulled beers available in a "tradtional" pub seems to motivate the bar staff into actually doing something physical to earn their pay.
If you go here, I gaurantee you will end up knocking back so many sambuccas and pints of stout to try and change your surroundings as quickly as possible. This however will only help you succeed in pulling somebody who looks like something out of a Monty Python film, or "The Lord of the rings".

This pub has gone downhill since the earlier reviews. Music is still good but management are very unfriendly. Bar gets very rowdy. Wouldn't recommend.
