Definitely a vast improvement since the 'refurb'. (It's just struck me how rare it is to say that a 'refurb' has improved a pub these days!) Better range of lagers and ales, polite, friendly staff and an agreeable atmosphere making it all too easy to while away the hours. Well done! insekt - 26 Jan 2008 21:56
New licensee over summer holiday (claims to have another pub in Loughborough) Selection of real ales has improved - general two or three guest beers as well as Everards - and well kept, though mostly only on for a week so how much damage can they do in that time? Plus point - they've out most of the tat but have also taken away some of the photos and left bare walls with picture lights. Now very brightly lit and being turned into a "London Boozer" (Licensee's description!) Why a London Boozer??? urbanite - 11 Dec 2007 17:07
I went there yesterday evening and had a chat with the owner and the manager. It seems it has recently been taken over, and contrary to past comments, there doesn't seem to be any clutter, and certainly no blue brothers by the gents toilet. There was a large selection of lager and cask ales available, and the ones I tried were spot on. The lager was clean and crisp, and the cask ales were spot on. There was a big screen to show sports, which unlike other pubs, the picture was very vivid and sharp. I'll definitely be going here again. If you want to go out for a beer where it is looked after and kept properly, then this is the place for you. anonymous - 27 Sep 2007 14:50
I went yesterday as I had been recommended the sunday roast there. For my first time there, I was very impressed. Nice chilled atmosphere, music at a level which could be heard but still spoken over, staff very friendly, drinks very reasonable, food was great, very cute beer garden, the decor is cool, like a traditional old pub, which I like - anyone can build a lloyds bar, a yates, etc - I like character, and this pub certainly has it! 10/10 from me. dawiho - 9 Apr 2007 13:02
Deeply average all round, and could be so much better with very little effort - yes, de-clutter! insekt - 27 Nov 2006 18:52
