Down to earth local pub with good selection of ales, front bar has tables of varying sizes and a certain feel that it is missing a dartboard (a couple of us said that, strange), carpetted rear bar has the feel of a snug but houses a huge plasma. Surprisingly large live music schedule for a relatively small place. Nice to hear the friendly barmaid admit to being unsure about one of the beers only because ‘I haven’t tried that one yet’. Old Rosie, Everards Tiger, Sunchaser, Beacon, Acorn Sovereign, Tring Jenny’s Yarn, Burton Bridge Sovereign Gold.

Excellent pint of Okells IPA. Has some character, one of those where you think what is this place on entry. modernisation would probably spoil it though.

Excellent pub with brilliant beer, fantastic staff, great entertainment and friendly customers. Well worth visiting!

Cosy two roomed boozer which has been consistantly good since I started drinking there some 15 years ago. In fact it has improved since the advent of more guest ales (I've never been a fan of Everards ales), the removal of the pool table, more seating, etc. Expect to pay a little more than some of the free house prices in Leicester, but worth it for a good pint. They often have guest ales by Brunswick, Bath Ales, and White Horse Brewery.

Made an out of the way detour to this pub to find a decent pint. BIG mistake. Was served a DREADFUL pint of Tiger which the surly barmaid was reluctant to change (the usual 'other people have been drinking it retort was the response). Well I was spitting feathers and this was my first pint so even a dodgy pint of lager would have been quaffed sharpish so this WAS a POOR pint. The eventual replacement of a pint Beacon wasn't really up to much either. How this pub is in the good beer guide is beyond me and the sarcastic remark on departure by the barmaid was noted. If you like good beer avoid this place like the plague as you're served dross and treated like an idiot. I'm sure locals will disagree but this is the comment of someone who just dropped by to have a reasonable pint of beer but was extremely disappointed by both beer and attitude.
