| Very disappointing to say the least in the light of previous reviews. OK, the Wheel does offer five different real ales, but they are all mainstream brands, (Directors, 6X, Pedigree, Abbot and Deuchars IPA). I opted for a pint of 6X, which although drinkable, was definitely in less than tip-top condition. It wasn’t cheap either; my pint and a glass of white wine for the wife came to £7.00. Foodwise, although there were chalkboards advertising food, and a full menu on display outside, when we enquired about food we were informed, quite brusquely, that the chef was away and only items on the short menu (basically a few snacks) were available. With that, and the fact that the place also smelt damp, we decided to vote with our feet ... steve2905 - 2 Jun 2008 04:37 |

| Brilliant little pub. Several excellent beers, including Big Wheel from their own Funfair Brewery, which you can see from the 'meditteranean sun terrace'. Several small rooms coming from a general bar area. Regular beer festivals and a lovely garden. All in all. If you're on the A38 its well worth a detour. Visit July 04.
