I called in at The Causeway during my family-visit to Hartlepool last week. I always do when I'm in the town. It is a proper pub serving top-quality beer, a frequent winner of awards from the local branch of CAMRA. I'm delighted to say that Strongarm is still available and in plentiful supply. It's off the main drag which means that, when I visit (usually in the afternoons) it is quiet. And it's a friendly place too; it has a regular clientele but I've always found folk willing to chat to this stranger.

The Causeway's friendly atmosphere and wide mix of people has made it the new home of the refugees and displaced souls from Knights bar.The King is dead long live the King!

Sad to inform the Causeway lovers, the brewery is proposing to remove the award winning STRONGARM beer from sale. The regulars are having a pettition against the move. its hoped that as many as poss will sign it to try and keep Strongarm on tap. Its part of the pubs and towns herritage for gods sake. Leave it alone brewery.

Loved it here. Sat in the non-smoking area reading the local papers with a terrific pint of Strongarm. Well worth the ten minute walk out of the town. Friendly barman too!
