Rude Landlady who made us feel very unwelcome despite the place being virtually empty on a sunday lunchtime. Only 2 tables in the bar area so no-where to sit and we were reprimanded for getting in the way of the staff by standing at the bar! This used to be a lovely pub but after our last visit we will not be returning. Sue_W78 - 25 Jan 2012 16:49
Very friendly staff and as good a pint of Butcombe bitter as you will find anywhere. The beer really was excellent. However when paying over £7 for a glass of wine and a pint it is a shame that the gents did not have soap or a towel. BristolBob - 30 Aug 2010 20:17
It's a pity this pub is tied to Youngs, and an even greater pity that it no longer offers a guest bitter -- there were just Young's ordinary, Young's Kew and Bombardier available when we visited on 29 August. That said, the food is very good indeed, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the ambience is spot-on. Worth taking the trouble to find it. By the way, there are some great walks on a network of public footpaths and bridle paths around Chedworth so you can work up a thirst before you visit. priestleysj - 30 Aug 2009 18:46
Not easy to find, it’s tucked away near the church at the NW end of this long village. A basic locals bar with Sky TV, a lounge bar and a separate dining room. There is also lots of seating outside, including over the road by a gushing spring - though as the pub is on a NE facing slope, the sun sets early for much of the year. A log-fire is welcoming in winter. A Young’s pub serving their bitter plus Bombardier and a guest, usually from the Young’s list. The food is upmarket and expensive. krislee - 14 Sep 2008 13:08
