Suprisingly decent pub considering it's location right on the High Street, recently started serving guest ales which are decently kept. The bar area is very crowded and gets overloaded, particulary when showing a football match as this is the only pub nearby showing games. Much quieter at other times and the Landlords work hard to keep it respectable. Decent local boozer nickrocks74 - 22 Jan 2010 17:43
Visited last sunday to watch the football (spurs) their was probably five people in there at max, the old photos on the wall of west ham would indicate to me that the landlord was a fan of the east end club. Landlord actually sat and chatted with the patrons, of which as we all know is a rareity these days. But overall, a nice small friendly pub, run of the mill beers, a bit pricey but worth the visit. PS: Although it was my first time in the pub, i was acknowledged by the customers and the landlord, another rareity. moncrief - 29 Nov 2008 11:06
This and the Plume of Feathers are the only two good Pubs in the High St. Friendly locals, Big TV, gets rammed out for the Football. All female friendly Bar Staff. pelham123 - 4 Nov 2007 13:48
Nice local, friendly staff and drinkers. Usually three ales on tap, banged out for big football matches. Along with the Plume of Feathers it's the one to use in the high st. lionbaz - 24 Jun 2007 17:55
Absolutely fantastic pub! Had a fabulous time in here a couple of Sundays ago. Only popped in at lunch time for one and ended up staying all day. Bloke watched the fottie while I chatted to locals. Barmaid was very friendly and always smiling. she brought out bowls of cheese and biscuits at one point and although received some gentle ribbing gave as good as she got. Great entertainment!! Landlord and lady were equally as welcoming and freindly even though we were strangers. Only critisism is that the beer was pricey but as the landlady said it's a safe pub with no trouble unlike some of the others in the area. Will definitely be back soon! anonymous - 24 May 2007 14:04
