I went there last Summer for a friend's birthday, it was a decent pub, although one of the regulars scared me a little, but apart from that, a decent pub.

The Barleycorn now offers a selection of real ales.

Popular with students and locals alike, it did go downhill a year or so ago, but it has now been transformed into a friendly, welcoming pub with regular live Music and one of the cheapest pints around.

It is a shame however, that the pool table is so expensive.

I've been going to The Barleycorn for years, mostly on a Sunday after football. It went downhill for a spell 2004.2005 but has definately improved in 2006 under the new management. It will be well worth a visit on Wednesday December 20th 2006 though because I've heard that this band called THE FRAUDSTERS are playing, and they are one hot band. Go and see them! <<Muggsy - Er..Fraudsters bass player!!>>

The Barleycorn has been through it's ups and downs, but has recently been taken over by Elaine, who has turned the place around and started putting good live music on every Saturday night, attracting a friendly regular crowd. The bands range from Rock to Irish to Funk, but the quality is always top notch. Apparently Elaine saved a pub in Blackpool, and the brewery have sent her here to do the same - and it's looking good.

This place has gone right downhill. Used to be a vibrant pub, but now it's cold and unwelcoming. No real-ales. I wouldn't return even if the beer was free. Go to Didsbury village instead.
