Good pub, friendly staff and good interesting menu. Range of six ales on offer - mostly from local larger breweries. Over 70 gins on offer which, if the landlady is behind the bar, you can have the whole nine yards about the histories and 'tasting notes' of any gin featured. Atmosphere very comfortable, great place to rest after a hard days golf on the local course. Highly recommended, maybe good do with a more adventurous ale portfolio to keep their heads above the rival pubs in the area boforbill - 21 Sep 2011 11:59
All has changed, and very much for the better. Regular guest ales - interesting ones, not from 'the usual suspects'. Great food, well prepared. Biggles - 3 Feb 2011 17:45
New management friendly and we enjoy the lovely fire wish they could make the fire face both lounges the one without a fire feels a little empty everyone crowds into the fireplace lounge. suggest getting a few plants to put in the cafe style part. Wherry one of the best pints on offer here does not give me digestive upsets like the adnams bitter (better broadside) had a roast good for the money. overall very pleasant beerinthedaytimeand - 12 Mar 2010 15:53 |
A great pub to be in on a cold, dank winters afternoon. The furnace of an open fire could have warmed peoples hands down by the river ! The traditional, wooden beamed bar had a homely atmosphere with candles adding to the effect. Although really quiet - we only witnessed 3 other customers - the locals are making a mistake by giving this place a miss. The mulled wine and mince pies were a nice surprise - which 2 of our party swiftly took advantage of ! A good solid range of ales with Wherry & Adnams Bitter along with a guest ale from Shenstones = 3 Spires, which was really satisfying. dragonforce - 30 Jan 2010 14:24
All has changed at The Angel. The pub has recently been taken over by Woodbridge boy Chris and his Wife Sarah. Big changes in place and more to come. Open fire, friendly staff, good beer and when all done great food. A great pub!! richardadams - 8 Oct 2009 15:53
