I popped in last jight and was, frankly disappointed. There were 6 handpumps all with Green King IPA on them and when we ordered one, the only pump in operation ran out! No sign of any Abbot ale either. Must be the only Green King pub without its' own beer. Ended up drinking keg. Exactly the same thing happened when I last went in 7 years ago. Will be a long time before I go back.

Hungry horse = Cheap food/beer. Gets busy as soon as it opens on a Sunday so get your order in quick!

This is a local pub that does good food and not bad ales either. The prices are average, not cheap but not expensive, and it does have a nice outdoor seating area for when the summer comes back. This pub has probably the best child friendly area in the area, and probably even in the whole of southend, so feel free to take the kids along if it's a nice day as they've got a rather large and well maintained kids area round the side.
It is a bit of a "local pub" it's not exactly buzzing with life inside most days, but on a friday/saturday night it's a good place to start the drinking from.
