user reviews of the Birchgrove, Cardiff

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

It's a fairly normal Saturday night in the Birchgrove, a decent enough Brains pub.

However, a chap called Geraint Thomas has just won the Tour De France, as it happens.

He comes from Birchgrove.

Can you imagine what the bar in a French village would be like, nay, the whole town, if a local lad had just done that?

The CAMRA 2011 Good Beer Guide has a railway station symbol for this pub which means it should be no more than half a mile from the station. I walked that distance in each direction but could not find the pub so - as it indicates above(see directions) - it is more than half a mile away. I gave up and went back into town. Can somebody from the Cardiff CAMRA branch please make sure that distances are correct and suitable for average walkers (not long distance runners!!!) Ta.

Its not a bad pub. On a busy road, so if your outside you are close to the traffic. Good for watching sport.

A very popular pub, the ‘Birch’ is now very much a contemporary pub, which still retains many traditional features, with memorabilia and photography on the wall to compliment this, and give a brief history of Cardiff to wondering customers. A wide selection of Brains ales are available, accompanied by an extensive food menu with daily specials. Food is served throughout the day, and into the evening. The Birchgrove has live music on the first Saturday of every month, and Sky TV to show all major sporting occasions. At the rear of the pub is a pleasant beer garden, perfect for those long summer months.

Also the manager are FAB trust me i work there.

A GREAT PUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
