Excellent town-centre pub with a local atmosphere - quite easily the best place in Sutton (admittedly without too much in the way of competition). The pub is lively but relaxed, peopled by nice punters and great staff. There are normally 3 well-kept real ales on offer at any time. The Gate plays host to live music later in the evenings (and Sunday afternoons) - most of which is very good. The resurrected Gate couldn't be any more different from the dump that it became during the "Case is Altered" days - a multi-million per-cent improvement. The Gate has recently launched a website: http://www.gateinnsutton.com/ PeteA - 11 Nov 2008 11:17
excellent pub great barstaff and landlord ..if you like live music ,this is the place for you cooky - 6 Nov 2008 17:09
Live music every day except Monday, so if that is your bag then you should enjoy it. Unfortunately the bands regularly use over half of the available area in the pub! The bar staff are friendly and don't run away and hide when you want to be served like they do in the Litter Tray and Sack. Slowfoot - 29 Oct 2008 17:14
Now reverted to it's old name of The Gate, bigger range of beer, new management. Richard49 - 26 Dec 2007 13:36
Amongst the worst pubs i've ever been in. Unfirendly, beer is dreadful, always too hot as well. anonymous - 2 May 2005 14:08
