I have been drinking in this pub for 2 years, I have always found the manager and the staff really friendly and helpful, theres always something on and I really like the music quiz that they do now. I feel really sorry for the lady who went there on NYE are you upset because the manager didnt talk to you???and spent a bit of time with her mates that night?!! Thats probably the only time she gets to see them! I can recall she spent most of her evening doing the door but hey try it for yourself readers you wont be disapointed. mrareading - 14 Sep 2005 19:06
Thoroughly enjoyable experience, staff are friendly are a little slow sometimes (otherwise would be rated 10). Food is reasonable, has two pool tables a darts board, three tv screens for when the matches are on plus plenty of games to play (touch screen or jenga - giant connect 4). There are plenty of interesting event on in the pub i particularly like the Boys v Girls event. Big thumbs up from me. minxy5 - 8 Sep 2005 18:32
Beckenham's answer to The Bell in Bromley. Full of idiots, rude staff, good place to have a fight. juliatheakston - 31 Jul 2005 17:31
This IS my local but very rarely pop in nowadays as I find the current Manageress unwelcoming & just seems to want to entertain her own friends! New Years Eve 2004 summed that up to all who were present - i popped in to see a friend & was amused by the DJ who had been called in at the last minute (NYE - i ask you!!!!) & had no party music just house music. The manageress grabbed a bottle of wine & went upstairs with her friends & turned the big scree on (at regular customers angry request) so party music could be heard from SKY! Bring in publicans who like to socialise with their customers, like the old Landlord & Landlady Terry & Mary Smith! They were the best! anonymous - 3 May 2005 22:45
This is such a lovely building it really is a crying shame that it has been allowed to become so run down. Builders in track suits and big screen sports, sums this place up. Being surrounded by so many homes and customers, the owners are just throwing money away by making it so uninviting. It used to have a British Empire/Raj feel to it, with palms and old pictures etc., They should bring this style back and see the customers flood in. walklim - 7 Mar 2005 16:59
