Popped in for a couple yesterday lunchtime as the 3 Guineas seemed to be having a Marston's festival! 3 beers on from XT, Downtown and Adnams. The Adnams Topaz Gold was superb but, at 3.70, it had to be to tempt me into a second pint.

Service was good - pub was pretty busy with loads of food (mainly burgers) being served.

Worth popping into but the prices are pretty steep!

Not much of a pub in the traditional sense, however quite comfortable. Doom Bar very average and over priced.

This, of course, is not a social club in the accepted sense but it is a large pub near the station which offers real ale, food and music. The photo must be old as the name changed some time ago. Usually two ever-changing cask beers from 3 handpumps (Mordue and Cains when I last visited). It's generally OK but as it is a venue style bar in the evenings the atmosphere and noise level will change. Not bad for a lunchtime pint - and you can browse through the daily papers as well. Very handy for the station; buses and town centre.

For some reason i'd not ventured into this place before, and after reading mainly positive reviews of it i thought i'd pop in with the missus and have a look, well, it's nice inside if slightly dark, lots of sofas if lacking in tables slightly, and the place was quite busy with a nice mix of the after work crowd and people just in for a few beers, but we ended up leaving quite quickly, unfortunately the service was very slow, now it was a bit busy but not overly so, only around 10 people at the bar if that, but having 2 staff on who seemed to operate very slowly and 2 other people just wandering around behind the bar chatting and eating crisps just seemed to annoy a few people, after almost 10 mins i gave up, i hope it's just a one off and a bad moment to come in so i'll not give it a rating yet, anyway, from what we saw the food looked good and the menu was nice, it seems like a decent place to have a few beers, just shame about the service when we were in.
