user reviews of Gold Balance, Kirkby

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub is ok when it comes to meeting your mates before you head off somewhere else. Quality food is served daily and you can even get a decent pint of Budweiser. The toilets are a pain being up a flight of stairs, but if you get lost, there are arrows pointing the way. They have recently had TV screens fitted which is an excellent idea, but the only thing is they don't have sky sports 1,2,3. Also the bar staff are friendly. Strangly enough, it's busier in the day than at night.

Without wishing to offend the residents of Kirkby too much, this place opened in 1999 in the town centre of a pretty rough town in the suburbs of Liverpool. Thus, it is often packed full of the same regulars who consist of old men in their 50s/60s who park themselves inside all day drinking guiness and travel back and forth the bookmakers!
Being Wetherspoons, food is cheap and good, large selection of real ales available and bar staff are friendly guys. However the toilets are located at the top of a massive flight of stairs to the rear of the pub - not good if your old, disabled or drunk
