user reviews of the Great Western, Corsham

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is my local and in my view the best pub in Corsham. The present landlord has run the pub for the past 3.5 years and during that time I have never been served an inferior pint. There is always a choice of 3 real ales. Regulars are Wadworth 6X and Young's Bitter and a varying guest ale. Food is limited, but this just isn't a foodie pub, it's a real local, although the occasional tourist that finds their way to the bar is always made welcome. Thanks be that this pub, one of the few not turned into a so-called gastropub, is still going strong of an evening. Definitely worth a visit for those who want a reminder of what a real local should be like.

Visited last week, like drinking in your mates living room. Found the prices a tad expensive for such a small pub, but cosy enough with the locals and their dogs. Not a great selection of ale, but ok for such a small place.

Currently for sale I believe, so some change may be on the way....

This is very much a small-time country pub, thankfully devoid of evil stares as you enter. It hasn't the size or turnover to lay on thrilling entertainment, fake antiquity or lavish foodstuffs, but at least you can bring your dog and have a decent pint.
