I suppose that it had something to do with the Real Ale festival being on (and perhaps because it was a Monday night), but this seemed more like a normal Wetherspoons than a Lloyds No. 1 bar. Anyway, the beer was good, the atmosphere was fine, and I find it hard to understand the current low rating. rpadam - 12 Nov 2008 22:00
Visited on 28th October (the night it was snowing). Had a decent meal here and the [recorded] music was at a level which enabled comfortable conversation with the locals. Standard Lloyds No. 1 pub conforming to corporate operational models. Only disappointment was two advertised ales were, in fact, not available despite their clips facing forward. I ended up drinking soft drinks and saving capacity for the next pub. lad_newton - 30 Oct 2008 14:56
Called here a couple of times during a recent weekend visit. The place has a “used” feel to it, but is clean. The cask beers were good and food adequate & well-priced. More of a disco at night, sometimes charging entry. Would go again [fine in the daytime]. reynard - 13 Aug 2007 17:59
