Wandered in late afternoon when it was quiet - gave up later the same day after 10pm as was (unsurprisingly) heaving! Unusual banana beer was good, service excellent, food looked good (but not tried)

On a recent daytime session in Birmingham we happened to drop in to the Solomon Cutler just by chance really. They only have three ales on here but thats not really a problem more an act of common sense. I had a pint of Wychwood Dirty Tackle which was really good. We decided to eat here and were all impressed by the quality of the food, it was nice and hot plus it arrived in a reasonable amount of time. In all I was glad we poped in, the only down side to the whole visit was using the gents toilets. As I walked in the wall to the left had a rather large blood stain on it. Im supprised the staff checking the toilets didnt notice it.

went here sunday and the boucer let my mate keep his silly hat on but made me take off my muslim hat, fascist bonehead dont you realise i just went upstairs and put it on! prick!

anyway, you can have a laugh in here, although NEVER drink the ale because its sh*t, you need to get on the red wine and port, thats cheap and will get you monged.

This used to be the perfect example of a excellent Lloyds No1. It had loads of comfy sofas, had a very laid back atmosphere and was the best pre-club bar to go too. During the day it used to get busy with people from offices coming in for lunch, music used to play from midday. At night the volume gets turned up for the party atmosphere.

But now because wetherspoons have changed their policies this place is more like a wetherspoon pub than a trendy Lloyds No1 bar. All but a few of the sofas have gone, music is turned on at around 7 o'clock in the eveing and lunch times are dead. Its a real shame that wetherspoons felt they needed to make its two brands more similar than different. I've noticed this accross the wetherspoon lloyds range.

Moaning over this place still attracts at night and is still a great place to go too. The ground floor is huge with plenty of seating and a reasonable dance floor, the bar is quite big with service being quick. Its equiped with Sky and sport is shown on some (not all) of the screen so its not invaded by sports fans. The upstairs floor is slightly smaller with its own bar and theres a great view onto Broad Street. Upstairs seems to have a more intimate atmosphere but really it isn't any quieter.

This place has lost its charm in a way, but is still great, highly recommended.
