| Not too bad JDW pub with a decent enough selection of ales. ng10 - 10 Aug 2011 11:49 |
| The first sentence of my review should have read 'one of the very few pubs open in Burton'. ILooklikeme - 26 May 2011 16:47 |
| One of the very pubs open in the centre of Burton for our Sunday afternoon visit, and like the town it was quite bereft of people. Still this meant we got served briskly and civilly to a very acceptable pint of Bateman's Pink Cadillac. Annoyingly though other beers we were interested in were "off" but the clips left facing the punter so as not to "spoil the corporate image". For a Lloyd's 'Spoon it seemed pretty run of the mill. | Usually the staff let Wetherspoons pubs down, but when I visited the Lord Burton they were really attentive and friendly. 7/10 dpaajones - 10 Mar 2011 14:59 |
| Pretty much a bog-standard Wetherspoons this. Standard dark wooden tables and chairs, with bar down right hand side and some alcove (slightly raised) down the left hand side. Four or five quest ales, including a couple from both Marstons and Burton Bridge. I had the Burton Bridge Porter and something from Arkells – both were quite nice. Didn’t sample the food – but you know the menu without me having to tell you. At least it’s open all day unlike the Burton Bridge Brewery Tap !! And can someone at BITE please sort out the mess they have made of Burton on the site. There are pubs lised under "Burton on Trent", "Burton-on-Trent","Burton upon Trent" and "Burton-upon-Trent". Search for one, and you don't get any of the others ! Suggest you standardise the spelling ... 6/10 – Spoons is Spoons Martinsh - 17 Jan 2011 23:34 |
