Another old style landmark pub demolished in the name of progress. with it's corner location surely it's one that could have been incorporated into the new layout for the area?

A nice interior, no real ale, bit of a rough-edged feel to the place. Not necessarily a bad thing. The Guinness was up to scratch on a Saturday afternoon.

Admittedly I have not been back to this Pub for a while. 10 years actually (!). But back in my student days when this place was my local I am everybody who went there absolutely loved this place. I have no absolutely no idea why. Certainly the geometry of the building and the bat itself make for ideal social drinking conditions, but I think it was more to do with a bizare atmosphere of kinship and a do-as-you please kind of thing.

Thanks Mount V for your the many happy afternoons bunking off Physics practicles for a Pool session and a swift 6 pints. Just don't go wandering any further up the hill out of town - it's like the wild west in Kensington !!

A bit of a hike from town. I didn't go very often but I always liked it when I did. There were several beers on offer (not always in the best condition) in the semi-circular bar. Can't remember if there were one or two other rooms in this pub but there is a pool table in a seperate room. There was also a strange ante-chmaber on the way to the gents toilet - the kind of room you'd expect murders to be committed. This is a friendly pub though, and I know of no murders taking place outside the gents.

Like most old buildings in this part of town, there are rumours that there was once access to the Williamson Tunnels from here.
