At last another great visit to All Nations over new year. Good to see all the usual locals in their usual spots in this excellent pub.
3 beers tried, Shires - Seven Gorgeous, Dabley Gold & Three Tuns - Clerics Cure, all in excellent condition & well served. All soaked up with the usual black pudding & cheese toasty prepared by Linda despite being on her own, thanks to Jim being off recovering from his recent knee op. Good luck of that Jim hope to see you up and about again soon.
If you are ever in the area or at Blists Hill Museum you really must pay this little piece of UK beer history a visit, for this is what pubs used to be like & maybe how they should still be. A true gem...

As previously said... A gem. Basic but brilliant is the only description I can think of.

Called into the 'Alexandra' for the very 1st time on Jan 15th 2011 ... and it won't be the last either !

What a cracking little pub !

Excellent choice of Beers ... an equally excellent 'Landlord' (manager) ... and a great community atmosphere there.

My only wish is that 'Black Country Ales' will give the Landlord a free rein to do what he's got planned - (some great ideas !) - then this place will really take off.

We'll be back ... and soon !

New landlord in place. Beer quality excellent on my recent visit. Mallinson's Stadium Bitter and another one at 6.4% both well kept.

Called in on Jan 15th 2011, and fell in love with the place ... Beer quality was top form, as was the friendly barmaid. 'Soaked' the Beer up with one of their very tasty cheese and Spanish onion baps !

Noticed they have several Pictish Beers coming on soon, and I hear that they also hold a Pictish Beer Festival ... I'll be back, I love Pictish Beers ! !!!

Cheers to all at the 'Station Hotel'.

best beer pub in oakengates better than the vinegar factory across the road real characters and banter in the bar in front of a roaring fire in winter good selection of real ales of varying abvs pictish flies out of the pumps if you need any advice ask one of the pictish twinning commitee in the fighting cocks you can take your own food but on a wed night try one of phils curries and pint great value at £4.50 if you like the music across the road come and get your beer here and take it with you but dont get caught lol

rpadam, the station refered to in the title is a second one, that used to be at the top of the street and served a different line to the one that still exists.

Disappointing visit this time, 5 beers & the nearest to a local brew was Wye Valley HPA...Well served though.

Very nice pint of Everards Tiger as usual - 4 other choices of cask ale including Slaters and Ironbridge breweries
4 Jul 2010 14:24
Two Salopian beers, Everards Tiger and one micro. Food very good, particularly the puddings. Worth seeking out.

Sampled the food last night and I must say it was probably the best proper pub grub I've had for many a year! Nothing pretentious, nothing over the top just basic good food cooked by the landlord. Pork&Leek Sausage and Mash + Homemade faggots and chips... total bill £10.50. Very good portions, very tasty, very well presented.. a great effort. All washed down by the best real ales served in Madeley. I Hope the place doesn't get too popular, we like it just the way it is!

A great first night last night.. Good to have some decent beer in Madeley. The Darwin's Origin, Shropshire Gold, Lemon Dream & Oracle were in great form as were the Ely's Pork Pies so much so I would have been prepared to pay for them. Giving them away FREE on the opening night was a great gesture. We will be returning soon and regularly and will be prepared to pay next time!! Great effort, great pub, great BEER! (shame you feel the need for a pool table!!) Wish you well.

Opening as a Darwin's Inn on the 17th September 2010. Extensive refurbishment of this traditional pub. Shropshire Gold and Darwin's Origin on permanently along with two guest beers. A excellent additon to the Madeley pub scene.

3 Handpulls, 2 "on" IPA being line cleaned so only Old Speckled Hen if you could get served. Seemed to be 1 barmaid doing drinks and taking food orders very slow. We had over 90 minute wait for food with no explanation or apology. No tables cleared, very few staff on a Bank Holiday... great planning , very poor service.

Only average pints of GK IPA yesterday - the only option - not impressed!
29 Jul 2010 12:55
Another successful visit this time for Mothers Day, the Steak to be fair was OK and the Westgate brewery's FLANKER'S TACKLE was very palatable. Not bad for a Hungry Horse Greene King pub...very noisy and full of "Mothers"!
