Reviews by BITE users:

A wonderfully traditional Midlands pub of multiple room, chip butties, no music, tv or nonsense, and 6 cask ales brewed on the premises. Fireplaces, wall benches with assorted loose cushions, flock wallpaper and half wall wood paneling, and dogs! Great atmosphere.

Beer is served a little warm for modern taste.

The pub and area fantatsic being a newcomer to Stone but the staff not so great. I felt ignored and then treated very badly by a bar lady. I was spoken rudely too at the bar ordering and felt a pub of such great presence deserves better than staff like this to demote it. She was a mid thirties to forty year old lady who wore glasses. wont be re-visitng that pub with friends for a nice meal and drink in a hurry.

The female bar manager (emma i think) who works here really damages the pubs overrall rating and that is why i have rated it below par. This lady is downright rude to customers old and new and i know many locals who stay clear of this pub and eat and drink(spend there good money) elsewhere simply because she works there, including myself. She certanily abuses her role and the power she has and treats many locals bad, by simply talking down to them or keeping them out simply because she does not like them personally. And i am not just talking trouble makers here but also well liked, respectable and some self-employed people who have a good attitude, and its all down to personel attitude not ours. The books would vastly improve if she where to leave.

Popular pub overlooking the river Trent with a good selection of real ales. Two interesting rooms. Had Tollgate and Black Hole beers and enjoyed both.

We popped in today on our way home from Brum and I agree it is a nice pub. There was a good selection of beers on. I had the Jennings 'Cocker Hoop' and it was excellent. Will be going again.

Seems the best pub in town. Well kept beers and a good range too. Food was unadventurous grilled "xxx with chips" in the main but pleasantly served. In fact all the staff deserve a mention for their friendly and helpful manner. We ventured up the road to try out the CAMRA awarded Swan hotel, but were v disappointed with the big brewer range of beer. The best thing about the Swan is the building/architecture - take a look then drink at the Bridge is my advice.

No real complaints with the beer (they serve a decent pint of Pedigree) but the food is pretty awful. Surely, with todays savvy food customers, you wouldn't serve powdered mash? But unfortunately they do! As for the rest of the menu, it's a bit hit and miss (more miss really). I think it's been created with the convenience of the kitchen in mind - What can we knock out quick and easy and make a decent margin on? Hence the powdered mash, frozen veg, bought in pies, oven chips etc, etc.

As for the pub itself, I think it's suffering from an identity crisis; it's not quite sure whether it's meant to be a pub or a restaurant and, unfortunately, it ends up being neither!

It has so much potential to be a nice pub that serves food (it's recently undergone a very tasteful refurb) but it's not quite there yet.

Just been done up. More of restaurant than pub. Friendly staff, OK food. Reasonable beer garden. All in all recommended...

Went for dinner her on the 11th April 2008. For a pub that has been supposedly refurbished it was quite nicely done. In fact much nicer than it used to be. However the food and drink leave a lot to be desired. The food made the little chef look gourmet. They had sold out of most of the options of their rather limited menu. The offerings they did have were over priced and nothing more than defrosted microwave shit. Even the chips were just supermarket oven chips which were barely warm. The service was terrible with the waiter missing half the order. The clientele of this pub is equally as bad and is made up of the mentally retarded inbred snobby cunts that make up the residential population of kings bromley. I write this as a warning to anyone passing through kings bromley. DO NOT STOP here. Keep on driving. There are much nicer pubs 2 miles further down the road in Yoxall, Alrewas, Barton.

Excellent choice of real ale in v good condition. Attentive, polite staff.

Called in before going to the beer festival as I wanted a good breakfast, and it was a good breakfast too. The toast was served on two separate plates, not dumped on top of the beans like some Wetherspoons served it, or left for two to try and spread butter and jam on one plate. The beer was varied and excellent too.

much better than The Gatehouse spoons, good ale selection, 8/10

the only reason the new owners have made a success of the pub is that they have proberly being allocated the entertainments licence from the council which unfortunately the previous owner was denied due to objections and for financial reasons due to a Mr Richard Turner financial agent or so he claimed to be so therefore in my opinion the new owners have a better advantage of making the pub a success but due to the location of the pub i dont think they will be able to turn the pub into a good establishment as they hope to do so
