I reccommend this to anyone after a good meal
The food is now all homemade and the pub has a selection of around 5/6 real ales.
The service is very friendly and if you fancy challenging your taste buds ask to try the beetroot and horseradish ice cream
all ice creams e.t.c are homemade also and i think they're about to start making their own sausages
A must try for all foodies and to top it all the chips are Hand cut on site

Next thing, desserts were dished out and nobody came back to me regarding my meal, I was offered no explanation or apology at all. It may be a small thing, but I paid for food which was sub-standard, not at all what I expected.
Overall, VERY disappointing!!!

The pub itself is very attractive - just a few miles detour off the M1 and with a beer garden right on The Grand Union Canal. The building is HUGE, with various rooms, a hotel upstairs and masses of parking.
Unfortunately, such a grand pub lets itself down on several fronts. There seemed to be plenty of staff for the amount of people in the place on a Sunday evening yet service at the bar was painfully slow. The pub is clearly selling itself on the food front and employs a rather stranfe two-for-one policy where prices are deliberately inflated (£11 for a goat's chesse tart and salad!) to encourage you to double up the meals, meaning that there is no point in solo visitors ordering. Our order went awol for 45 minutes and when it did eventually arrive had clearly been reheated and both dishes dried to a crisp. We complained but little apology was offered.
Overall, would not recommend.
Usual sort of meals, quite a choice, 2 for 1 offers etc. but fairly good.
Reasonable choice of real ales .
Seemed pretty crowded with all sorts (mainly eating) on a Saturday night.

There were several real ales to choose from, the Brains 'Party Popper' being well kept. The price was on the expensive side, but as a one off visit, I felt I was paying for the overall atmosphere of the place which was impressive.
Would have liked to have had a bite to eat, but they only appeared to serve expensive meals which a simple sandwich or similar would have been appreciated.
Reading previous posts, this may not be the perfect place, and I cannot comment on how the pub was originally, but whatever your views may be on pub makeovers of this sort, they do appear to have made a nice job with the decor and the atmosphere.
They seem to pack the restaurant out but dont have enough stuff to cover the amount of customers. We encountered long periods with empty glasses, staff standing around talking, and a very long wait for our meal. We found it very difficult to attract any member of staffs attention during our visit.
We tried to bring the issues to their attention but they didnt seem interested and their unsincere smug apology was rather frustrating.
There are better places to enjoy a sunday lunch in northamptonshire who seem to value their customers

Beers top notch (all 14 of them)
Handled a group of us on Saturday afternoon brilliantly with no warning.
Next time in Kettering this is the only pub to visit.
