Second time here - good busy pub with everyone having a good time - lovely outside by the weir and the great topo sculpture...try and locate the pub! Beers we had were all from the on-site Riverhead and all good, included;

Butterley Bitter
March Haigh
Red Brook Premium
Galena IPA
Cupwith Special

Really nice pub and a great find in the picturesque Colne Valley village of Marsden. The ground floor is the drinking area with dining upstairs; On a saturday afternoon it was busy indoors but took no time at all to get served. It also benefits from an enviable outside patio space next to the river, which proved to be something of a suntrap on a gorgeous afternoon. I sat on the wall adjacent to the nearby weir and marvelled at some of the fattest ducks I've ever seen, it was brilliant. As mentioned, Ossett Brewery appears to own the pub but Riverhead beers, brewed on site, take precedence and I had a very agreeable pint of Lockeepers Bitter (£2.40). This pub is 15 minutes from Huddersfield or 40 minutes from Leeds, and is very much worth the journey.

Very popular and noisy pub with a great atmosphere (the noise is from people having a good time nothing else!). The beers brewed on the premises and the parent Ossett Brewery were available. All the ones I tried were good, without being brilliant, Ossett probably had the edge. The food in the restaurant up stairs was excellent and definitely not pub grub.

Huge indoor space that was quite sparse and rather empty. Minimal furnishings do not detract from the cheap prices for an excellent selection of real ales that were well kept. This place was not as nice inside as the other at the end of the platform, but I preferred it for the beer.

Far more of a pub than it's twin at the other end of the station. Largish room with tiled floor - there is a smaller room at the 'Leeds ' end which seemed like a laundry room (possibly to do with it smelling dam;p and having a washing machine in it).Tried the Church End Goats Milk and Hophead Bitter - both excellent and both cheap.

Enjoyed this place in several ways. OK so its scruffy but so what-excellent range of beers with Taylors Golden Best at a wallet pleasing £2.10/pint! Would imagine it would be really good when the live music is on. Reminded me of the pubs in the early 1980s.
However sad to see at 5pm midweek hardly anyone in, in contrast to the Head of Steam up the other end of the platform which was almost full. I'm afraid the aspirational customers of the Head of Steam may well end up having to drink in the Kings Head once dumb Dave and traitor features Clegg have finished with them.

First class night again on Saturday. Pretty well unchanged since last visit, and 7 beers available. The best on this visit were Linfit Bitter, English Guineas and Old Eli.

Ron is still enthusiastically at the helm, and the locals were again a friendly bunch. Jukebox was not overly loud and the choices of music were varied and good.

A real pub, full of real, unpretentious punters. A gem.

The Sair Inn is a haven of real-alery. A pint (or three) of excellent ale, great music, top banter, beautiful views on a summer evening, and a warm fire-side on a cold january night. There is a lot of joy to be had in the contemplation of a pint, in terms of plain reality of course, there is a good deal more to be had in the draining of one. Started with the Linfit which was deliciously crisp, moved onto the Gold Medal which was exquisitely quaffable and finished any thoughts of leaving in fine style with a dark, rich stout called English Guineas. A friendly chat was had with the eccentric and enigmatic Ron Crabtree over a pint of Old Eli (rich, fruity and hoppy) accompanied with the folklore of the pub, we then put the world to rights with the locals and staggered into the night to flag a horse and carriage. A truly excellent pub.

Oh my, this must be in my top 1 pubs in Great Britain. The Sair is the worst kept secret in Huddersfield. Heading out towards the wilds of Marsden, there's a little left up a 45 degree hill. Where does this hill go? To the Sair, that's where! Greeted by a godawful sign comprising a cartoony pig you enter the door beneath and take a step back into an age forgotten. 4 rooms, some with fishtanks, some with idle guitars, all with dogs and logs and a rowdy local contingent of rabbit trappers and jazz musos. Don't expect luxury, find ropey alleys to the gents (with a glimpse of the conservatoire brewery!) dodgy wiring, and the ever present master of the brews, salty dog Ron Crabtree! The ales, take your pick of 8+ are all VERY local and they taste absolutely excellent. The range and quality astounds, at unbelievevably reasonable prices. Try the Leadboiler for a strong dark one.

Go there.

Whoopee i say!

Basic two room pub with an outstanding beer selection. Sampled two Belgian beers and various halves of ale from breweries like Banks and Taylor, Fullers etc, all at a fair price i might add. Excellent service from a young lady called Chloe and a friendly clientele made for a memorable afternoon.

A return will take place sometime in the future!!

Visited this pub for the first time the other week. "Why have I not been before," I ask myself. Wonderful beer choice, good conversation with the locals and knowledgeable staff. Excellent!

Great pub with Great beer and friendly staff. It has a very big blackboard containing all of the beers/ciders that are on that day , And the last time I visited there was about 23 real alesand 2 or 3 ciders one of which was 7.4% Top pub !!.

The little bridge is an elegant, warm and welcoming establishment which serves beautiful food and has a excellent choice of high class wines, beer and coffee. The wine list especially is excellent. It's very rare these days to find a place which stocks such a wide variety of world class wines. It truly is a lovely place where you don't feel like you're in slaithwaite!

Best wine bar in the valley!! Great food, great atmosphere and great place!!! The bad comment which has been left is absolute rubbish! Come and see it for your self it's never seen a dump. It's 100% incorrect. They should try all the other drinking establishments in slaithwaite, they'll be shocked! It's the best thing to happen to slaithwaite in a very long time!! 10 out of 10

The little bridge in slaithwaite is a friendly and well presented Bar/Restaurant
The food is always well presented, and plentifull .
With kind regards to the previous reviewer i find the need to comment.
As to the Little Bridge being a Bar/Restaurant this seems an unfair description of what essentially is a Cafe/Bar.
Now, having travelled far and wide for 40 years this does appear to be the case.
i.e. a small,atmospheric classy little joint.
The food is exactly what one would expect - Bistro style - "NON TRANSPORT CAFE".
Having witnessed many transport caff while working away from home this certainly doesn't resemble one.
If the reviewer considers this beauty such, then he/she must be referring to the "leggers" of old, that may have used the original shed upon the canal to get their SLOP.
Myself and my wife enjoy the Good Food , Good Atmosphere and Friendly Staff

A pretty good pub with lots of room providing plenty of space for the many people here. Service was reasonably quick despite the number here. Sam Smiths, Blacksheep and a few other ales were on and in good nick. I liked this pub, but I preferred the other one at the end of the platform that was a "spit and sawdust" place.

One of a set of twins buildings at each end of Huddersfield railway station. This his one has a chain pub feel (probably because it is). Had a pint of Consett Cast Iron which was nice enough but has as been pointed out the service can be unnecessarily slow considering the ratio of staff to customers.

Service can be poor and it can seem to take an age to get your order in. Also a bit pricey - go to the Kings head or teh Sportsman round the corner would be my advice.
