Back to having 3 beers on handpump. Usually 2 regular (ish) beers in Acorn Barnsley Bitter & A Copper Dragon with a changing guest. A very drinkable 3 Bees beer called bee thrifty on my recent visit.
Worth a port of call in Blackpool's Real Ale Desert.

Visited the pub again recently whilst visiting Blackpool. We were more than satisfied with the standard and selection of real ales and food. Good Job!!

An average bar in an awful place - the beer was reasonably priced (£5.00) for a round but lacking in atmoshpere. A fairly average pint.

Visited on a Friday lunchtime, rated at 5 as it's a pleasant pub. However hugely disappointed to be served the worst pint I have ever been offered. The xxxb was so off it would have been better sprinkled on chips. For a pub in cask marque I expected better.

As the previous post says " one of the better real ale pubs in Blackpool".
In central Blackpool yes I agree but there isn't much competition. Called in recently as the neighbouring Gillespies for shut for a refurb. Busy pub and friendly. Ale on our visit was poor - only Spitfire on which we visited which was awful and unfinishable.

Would be wholly unremarkable in most other towns of a similar size, but this is one of the better real ale pubs in Blackpool. Fairly civilised inside, with various seating areas on different levels. Four handpumps, with an unadventurous selection of beers such as Bateman's XB (£2.65).

The first Wetherspoons I have been in since the start of their latest festival. To be honest, this place was nothing special. The usual Spoons recipe with plain open interior but a fairly good selection of ales. Although quite how many of these they really had on, I do not know. Beers showing available were Moorhouses Pendle Witches Brew, Freeminer Hairway to Steaven, Wadworth Pixley Blackcurrant Stout, TSA Double Espresso, Greene King IPA and Ruddles Best. Ciders and perries were Westons Old Rosie & Marcle Hill and Broadoak Perry. Considering the lack of decent real ale pubs in Blackpool, this Wetherspoons was quite a welcome find.

A Spoons in Blackpool, it makes perfect sense. This shabby and vulgar excuse for a seaside town needs one, because believe me nitrokeg and lager rule the roost. I ventured in here once a few years ago after being accosted by a homeless beggar and before that a deranged Scotsman who had forgotten to go back home after a weekend piss up. Needless to say moi was frazzled and in need of liquid refreshment which was gratefully supplied. As i recall a reasonable selection of ales were on offer in a quietish pub, not a hen or stag party in sight!

Fairly unremarkable 'spoons, but set several roads back from the beach and thus avoiding the worst of the seaside mayhem. Also surprisingly far out from the centre of town but pretty close to the South station. Most - but by no means all - of the 12 handpumps were working, and the selection of real ales was a reasonable mixture of the usual suspects and rarer offerings. My pint of the dubiously named Doff Cocker from the Three Bs Brewery was first class at £1.70, and I doubt whether you'll find a better place for a pint in this part of the town.

wouldn't have thought bout looking for this place if it wasnt for it's listing in the 2011 good beer guide, it's on the non town centre side of the train station . it had three ales on of which i opted for a bargain priced pint of hereford celtic gold which was fine and just £2.10 a pint , 7/10

Imposing, traditional pub in the 'brewers Tudor' style, located close to Blackpool North railway station. Good atmosphere, with plenty of original features and memorabilia to look at. Five handpumps, offering a decent selection of real ales such as the World Cup special 4-4-2 at a very reasonable £2.05. Has a plaque indicating that it is (or perhaps was?) a Tetley Heritage Pub.

Close to Blackpool North railay station, lovely pub with friendly staff and 4 cask ales that were in good condition and included a couple of unusual ones.

By far the best pub I've found in many visits to Blackpool, equalled only maybe by The Shovels at the far south of town

being wetherspoons number #506 this certainly aint the worst in the country contrary to the previous report, very central location and friendly quick service, beer selection nothing to write home about but the pint of acorn barnsley bitter was spot on and just £1.99 bargain 7/10

Further to my previous review.
This place has got worse instead of better. Just one bar staff on trying to serve "large ish" presense at the bar
Today's visit yielded just one handpump in use, and that was in fact a cider.
So much for the biggest beer festival on the planet that Wetherspoons is supposed to holding at present.
This pub must be a contender to be the WORST WETHERSPOONS IN THE COUNTRY.

It's a Wetherspoon's pub - what do you expect?

I expect good value food & cheap beer (luckily I love Ruddles ) and that's exactly what you get.

Had I posted this last week it would have been a very good report. I work in Blackpool Mon - Fri and only discovered this pub a few weeks ago. I've eaten there a few times and have always found th eservice to be excellent and the food very good value. It mught not be cordon bleu but for it very good for the price.
However, I went there on Wednesday 3rd Nov, sat at a table, checked the menu, and waited to be served. And waited, and waited, and waited. After about 25 minutes I decided that the slender blond waitress couldn't see me.So I left! I know I should have made a fuss there and then but the football was on and I was keen not to miss any. Although being an Arsenal supporter the result just compounded my disappointment of the evening.
So instead of an 8 it's a 4 and it's a pub I'll probably not go back to.

we ate here on the 16th sept 10, main meal was really nice,as we were eating we noticed the waitress serving other tables asking if they would like any dessert,we had decided that we would have one however during our meal people were asked to move because there was going to be a darts and domino game as we were sat in that particular area the waitress ignored us i saw that she had noticed that we had finished eating our main course but chose not to come over to our table we were very dissapointed about the darts and domino team if they knew they were going to have a game thay should have put a polite notice up saying that was happening we left very dissapointed and angry that we had been pushed out. if you were to eat here i would recommend asking if there any games about to happen.

Nice looking bar with reasonable drinks prices but will NEVER eat there again! Food was ordered at 4.00pm (we ordered sausage + mash and BBQ chicken) ...... it had arrived by 4.07pm!! It had obviously been microwaved. The food was warm and I could actually cut the mashed potato into slices! Very disappointing and won't be visiting again!
