What has happened to this pub!! I went to the taswell on a friday night and the beer was awful. How can a pub go down hill so much in the 8 months since i was last here. On my last visit in january this pub had quality beer and a nice atmosphere. Now it seems that nobody cares about the place. This was confirmed by its lack of customers.

popped in on friday night seemed a nice little pub, reasonable beer, people talking, then the live "music" started, i left about 5 minutes later along with 2/3rds of the other customers, why do landlords do this?

WHAT A FIND!!! I have lived in southsea all my life but have never been to the taswell before but i will be going back!! Myself and a group of friends spent last thursday night here to be met by what i can only say as the best kept ales i have had for a long time. The dechaurs ipa was superb as was the spitfire.(they also have summer lightning also very good i was informed)The spirit selection is second to none. The pub was very clean, the bar staff attentive and the feel of the place very friendly. This pub is a must!!!

Having socialised in Portsmouth for the last 20 years, and been a resident for only the last 6 weeks, I had previously been unaware of this backstreet boozer. I had missed out. A pleasant interior with various levels and areas (including comfy sofas), this is probably as close as you'll get to a sitting-room atmosphere outside your own house. Very well-kept ales (last Saturday night I enjoyed Landlord and Summer Lightning) and a friendly bar staff make this a good choice for a relaxed drink. I got the feeling quite a few of the clientele were having an early drink prior to a big night out - unless they're just REALLY smart around Taswell Street...

Well this pub isn't quite the same since they stopped producing the food, which is a shame.

A very friendly pub with some quiet outside tables where you can watch the world go by. I had a lovely pint of Spitfire there this week - their selection of well kept real ales always seems to find something to keep me a very happy customer!

The entertainment is excellent with karaoke each week and discos. Real ales in excellent condition, camera holding a tasting evening on the 16th february which will be a good experience and a good night. Has a very good atmosphere recommend it for the quiz nights on mondays.

The pub now offers sunday lunch which is fantastic and also during the week serves home-made soup and ready freshly filld rolls. Great atmosphere. Comfortable.

Since its makeover (mid 2005) this place is unrecognisable. It's warm, friendly and comfortable and it has great beer to boot. As at Nov 05, it has Summer Lightning and Abbott - both kept superbly. I can't understnad how people choose a "pint u lager mate" in these circumstances. V limited food but great atmosphere.

Great pub. Great atmosphere. It's amazing what a new team and a refit can do. Friendly staff, good beer - top stuff
